Bridge Replacement Master Plan

In June 2024, the City Commission of the City of Lighthouse Point adopted a Bridge Replacement Master Plan.

The following is a priority list of bridges in need of replacement:

Sample Road Bridge (Design & Permitting Funding Approved 23-24 - State Appropriations, currently underway)
NE 31^st Court Bridge (Design & Permitting Funding Approved 23-24 - State Appropriations, currently underway)
NE 28^th Street over Pelican Waterway (Design & Permitting Funding Approved FY 25-26 - State Appropriations, pending grant agreement)
NE 29^th Street over Tern Waterway
NE 24^th Avenue over Alamanda Waterway
NE 49^th Street over Egret Waterway
NE 48^th Street over Coral Key Waterway

Sample Road Bridge

The Sample Road Bridge, #867205, is a three-span structure along Sample Road and is owned and maintained by the City of Lighthouse Point. Built in 1958, the bridge serves as a single point of access and hurricane evacuation route to the Lake Placid community. Due to the age and condition of this bridge, the City of Lighthouse Point is proposing to replace it with a new resilient structure. Currently, the design and permitting phase is fully funded, with an estimated completion date of June 2026. The design plans take future sea level rise into account.

NE 31st Court Bridge

The NE 31st Court Bridge, #867203, is a three-span structure along NE 31st Court that is owned and maintained by the City of Lighthouse Point. This bridge is the sole point of access to a residential island containing 25 lots along NE 31st Court. This bridge was built in 1955. Due to the age and condition of this bridge, the City is proposing that it be replaced. Currently, the design and permitting phase is underway and fully funded, with an estimated completion date of June 2026.
