New Solid Waste, Recycling, and Bulk Waste Collection
FAQs
Will my service days change?
No. There will be no change to the existing schedule for garbage, recycling, and bulk waste collection. Please ensure that your carts are placed curbside by 7 am on your regularly scheduled collection day.
Will there be any change to trash carts?
Yes. Beginning the week of May 20th, a 96-gallon black trash cart will be delivered to all single-family residences. You will begin using your new black trash carts the week of June 3rd. After June 3rd, ONLY the black City issued garbage carts will picked up. Note: 96-gallon carts hold approximately ten 13-gallon trash bags.
Can I order a smaller size cart?

Are there any changes to recycling services?
No. Recycling services and schedules will remain the same. Please continue to use your existing tan and green recycling carts.
How do I place my garbage cart out for pick up correctly?
Place your garbage cart at the edge of your driveway the night before or no later than 7 am. Do not place your carts in the street. To allow the automatic arm to lift and empty your garbage cart, be sure it is placed THREE (3) FEET from obstacles, including parked cars, mailboxes, and fencing with the cart wheels facing your home. Please bag all of your trash.
- The cart handle must face away from the street (cart wheels face toward your house), with the lid opening facing the roadway
- All garbage must be placed inside the cart with the lid closed
- Please bag all garbage to keep carts clean and odor-free
- Only City-provided carts will be collected. Resident-owned carts or containers WILL NOT be serviced
- Any material left outside of the cart or placed on top of the cart WILL NOT be collected
What do I do with my old garbage cans?
To recycle your OLD TRASH CANS, place it curbside on bulk collection day on its side.
Are there any changes to bulk collection services?
No. There are no changes to bulk collection services.
What if my cart is lost or damaged?
If your cart is lost or damaged, you can request a replacement cart by contacting Waste Management’s Customer Experience Department at 954-974-7500 or visit the WM website. There is no charge to residents for cart replacements.
What is the holiday collection schedule?
The only recognized holiday is Christmas Day. In those instances where the scheduled collection day falls on Christmas Day, WM will provide collection services on the next regularly scheduled collection day, with no “make up” service.
For recycling collections that fall on Christmas Day, if Christmas Day falls on a Monday or Tuesday, WM will provide collection service on the next following Wednesday; if Christmas Day falls on a Thursday or Friday, WM will provide collection service on the next regularly scheduled collection day for the customer, with no “make up” service.
Hurricane Preparedness
Prior to a storm’s arrival, safely secure your garbage and recycling carts inside your garage or residence. Garbage and recycling services may be suspended during this time. After a storm, separate vegetation (trees and shrubs) from other bulky items and garbage. Normal collection services will resume as soon as roads are accessible. Please monitor the City website for the most up to date information or visit the WM website.
What if I still have questions?
If you have additional questions, don’t hesitate to contact Waste Management’s Customer Experience Department at 954-974-7500 or visit the WM website.
